Why an Apartment Was More Appealing Than Keeping Our House
November 12, 2015
When I was growing up an apartment meant some dingy place that you did not want to live. Everyone I knew was driven to own their own house. The goal was a house, yard and that picket fence. Now it is completely different. Apartment living can really be luxury living. When my wife and I decided to sell our house, we looked for apartments for rent in Buffalo Grove IL. We were amazed at the quality and standard of living that was now available for those who want to live in apartments.
The place we moved to has a large swimming pool. They have a gym and all kinds of amenities. It is like a little community unto itself. The apartments themselves are stunningly gorgeous. They have hardwoods and granite. We have a double bowl vanity in the bathroom with a granite countertop. The kitchen has all stainless steel appliances. The space of the floor plans are generous. We got a two bedroom place so the grandkids and other guests have a room to stay in when they visit.
We sold our house because the maintenance of it no longer fit our lifestyle. We wanted to be free to travel but have a place to come home to that did not need someone doing things while we were gone. There is no longer a need for us to cut grass, trim weeds, paint stuff outside or shovel sidewalks in the winter. All of that is taken care of by management.
This type of living is desired by young professionals who are busy, and people our age who want to travel and not be tied to big house. As a couple we write and do web work for a living. So, working while traveling is easy. We have our nice home to come back to, and we do not have to worry about its upkeep while we are gone.
